It began in 1994, when Blizzard Entertainment released a game called "Orcs & Humans." Set in the Kingdom of Azeroth, it is referred to by many in Warcraft lore as "The First War," and introduced the world to Warcraft. From these humble beginnings, grew the Warcraft universe.
World of Warcraft is the forth installment of the Warcraft saga. It is also the largest massively multiplayer online role-playing game of its kind, with more then 11.5 million monthly subscribers. The World of Warcraft site is the gateway to this universe. It introduces you to guilds, groups, quests, and everything Warcraft. World of Warcraft requires a lot of hardware to run correctly. You must make sure that your system has enough ram, hard drive space, graphics card and a CPU that can handle the demand. When you are ready, you can jump right in. Warcraft has grown into a global encounter with millions of other players. It is played in real time, you do not take turns. You need to make friends, join guilds, and watch your back. You also need to understand that Warcraft is a subscription service, so it is not free. If you do decide to enter the Warcraft experience, make sure you understand what the fees are and how much it could cost.
World of Warcraft is a full immersion experience. You do not just control a character, you become them. There are many options to choose from, assorted quests or missions. You may also decide to be wandering rouge. In this universe, there is no limit to what you may become.
