Disney’s Toontown is a wonderful kid friendly virtual reality game where you make your own cartoonish character that you use to interact with other online gamers.  You get to choose your toon’s name as well as decide what size and color your character will be.  For your character’s name you can either choose a name from a wide variety of names they offer or you can choose to make a completely unique one of your own.  But if you decide to pick you own name, it has to be approved by the toon council before you get to use it.  My daughter and I each have one character that we did this with:  Countess Dragon Rider and Princess Dragon Rider. 

Once you’ve got your character picked out, it’s time to play.  There are a number of different things you can do while in Toontown, but the first thing you’ll need to do is go see Tutorial Tom who will tell you all about the cogs.  Then he’ll give you a small task to do to teach you how to fight the cogs.  Tutorial Tom also teaches you what your laff meter is and how it works as well as starting you off with your first two gag tracks:  throw and squirt.  Then Tutorial Tom sends you to the playground to ride the trolley so you can earn some jelly beans in order to buy more gags.

On the way there, you’ll meet Flippy who will teach you how to use speed chat so that you can talk to other toons.  This will be how you make friends, and friends can be very helpful later on when your tasks get a little harder.
